Myrna Marie (Sis) Lawrence, 60, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on June 5, 1961, in Wichita to Ivan Wasko and Mary Ann (Bieker) Wasko.
Myrna was a graduate of Hays High School. Throughout her career Myrna supported and cared for hundreds of students as a school secretary and as a special education paraprofessional in Great Bend, Ellsworth and Topeka. Most recently, she was employed by Petro Deli in Topeka.
Survivors include her son, Kirk; father, Ivan Wasko (Hays); siblings, Myron Wasko and wife Stephanie (Rose Hill), Myrle Wasko and wife Dawn McCusker (Moscow, Idaho), Myrlin Wasko and wife Renee (Lee’s Summit, Mo.); and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly known as “Aunt Sis." Myrna also leaves behind countless friends and co-workers to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Myrna will be remembered as a kind and caring soul that rarely knew a stranger, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 20, 2021, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 W. 13th St., Hays, KS.
