
Mary Kayleene “Kay” Jones, 84, passed away on December 25, 2021, in
Oberlin, KS. She was born on January 13, 1937, in rural Rooks County, KS
to Charles and Mary (Frazier) Pierce.
Kay grew up in Hill City and graduated from Hill City High School in
1955. After high school she went to Fort Hays State University. She
then married Darrell Allen Jones on July 19, 1958 in Hill City and to
that union they had three children: Barton Allen, Charles Curtis, and
Mary Colette. Kay was a secretary for Farmers & Merchants Bank and
the Kansas Employment Office, she was also the Oberlin Library Director
but her favorite title was homemaker/mother. In her spare time she
loved to knit and crochet, listen to music, play the piano and organ for
her church, and was an avid reader.
Kay is survived by her husband, Darrell; sons: Barton Jones and
Charles Jones; daughter; Mary Wahlmeier; brother: Larry (Sherry) Pierce;
sister: Coleene Brassfield; grandchildren: Andy, Alex, Aaron, Tessa,
Keegan and one great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her
parents.
