LIBERAL - Hays High boys golf closed out their regular season with a third place finish at Tuesday's Liberal Invitational at the par-72 Willow Tree Golf Course.
Hays shot a 318 and finished three strokes back of second place Garden City and 11 behind first place Dodge City. Dalton Schmidtberger shot a 2-over 74 and was part of a four-way tie for first but finished second on a tiebreaker.
The Indians finished third in the final Western Athletic Conference standings behind Dodge City. Caleb Thompson was First Team All-WAC with Braiden Bickle, Trey Oakley, Miles Weimer and Dalton Schmidtberger named to the second team.
Hays will host their own 5A Sub-State Tournament Monday at Smoky Hill Country Club.
