Larry Joseph Werth, age 75, of La Crosse, Kansas, died Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born June 15, 1945, in Hays, Kansas, to Alfred J. and Martina L. (Schaffer) Werth. He married Henrietta (Oswald) on April 25, 1992, in LaCrosse, Kansas.
He was a farmer and a salesman at Steinle’s Menswear Store in Russell, Kansas for a number of years. He move to La Crosse from Russell in 1978 where he farmed in the Liebenthal area. He grew up on the farm at Schoenchen, and was a1963 graduate of Schoenchen High School. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, Russell Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight, and a 35-year member of A.A. He and his wife operated the “Moo Cow Shack” food vending trailer for 11 years traveling to fairs, auctions, sidewalk sales and etc. Larry enjoyed cooking and good food, meeting and working with the people while having the food trailer, gardening, watching western movies, and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Werth, of the home; three sons, Lonnie Werth and wife, Diane, Salina, KS; Montie Werth and wife, LaDonna, O’Neil, NE; Donnie Werth; one daughter, Marcie Jekic and husband, Nick, Olathe, KS; one sister-in-law, Judy Werth, La Crosse, KS; seven step-children including, James Rohleder and wife, Elaine, Hays, KS; David Rohleder and wife, Linda, Salina, KS; Denise Rohleder, Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren, Brandon Werth, Callie Werth, Lawrence Werth, LaShanna Werth, Amanda Watskey, Emily Watskey, Ethan Jekic; 16 step-grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren.
A private family funeral service will be held, and burial will be at the LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse, Kansas.
A visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas in care of the mortuary.
