Kan. woman hospitalized after semi crash while doing U-turn

SCOTT COUNTY —Two people injured in an accident just after noon Wednesday in Scott County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Rachel H. Redburn, 58, Scott City, was southbound on U.S. 83 approximately six miles south of Kansas 96.  The Nissan traveled onto the southbound emergency shoulder and attempted a U-turn.

A southbound 2006 Kenworth semi driven by Larry M. Fitzgerald, 53, Bertrand, Nebraska, struck the Nissan during the U-turn.

EMS transported both drivers to the Scott County Hospital. A passenger in the Nissan was not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
