⛳ FHSU men tie for 13th at season-opening event in Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Golf tied for 13th place as a team at The Mule, hosted by the University of Central Missouri, September 8-9. Cooper Scheck and Jordan McCaslin were the top finishers, tying for 19th individually.

The Tigers were tied for third as a team after the first round when they shot 285 as a team. They followed that with rounds of 292 and 308 to finish.

Scheck's second round was his best of the tournament, shooting a 1-under par 69. He shot a 2-over 72 in the first round and a 6-over 76 in the final round. McCaslin had a big opening round and led the tournament after a 5-under 65. However, he followed with rounds of 74 and 78 and matched Scheck's 7-over total of 217. McCaslin had 11 birdies for the tournament, including seven in the first round, while Scheck had five.

Chutithep Rungpajchim shot rounds of 71, 77 and 75 to tie for 52nd individually. He had three birdies throughout the tournament. Grant McAtee shot rounds of 77, 72, and 82 to tie for 85th, carding five birdies. Colby Hays shot rounds of 78, 79, 79 and had four birdies, finishing in 97th.

Central Oklahoma won the team title by 14 strokes, running away at 14-under par as a team. The Bronchos as a team were 10-under par in the second round. Tournament host Central Missouri finished second at even par as a team. There was a 26-shot gap to the third-place team, Arkansas-Fort Smith. Nick Canales of Central Oklahoma won the tournament individually at 3-under par overall.
