Dorothy Mae (Stefan) Geschwentner

Dorothy Mae (Stefan) Geschwentner, age 76, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born June 25, 1944, to Michael and Isabel (Scheck) Stefan in Hoxie, Kansas. 

Dorothy graduated from Trego Community High School, and on February 10, 1964, she was united in marriage to Joseph Geschwentner at Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, Kansas, and They were married for 55 years until his passing in January of 2020. Dorothy worked in housekeeping at Gove County Medical Center for over 23 years, as well as taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, crafting, embroidery, camping, and taking good care of her great-granddaughter. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society and enjoyed serving her community.

Dorothy is survived by her son Dale Geschwentner of Hoxie, Kansas; daughter Kathy (Joe) Flora of Baldwin City, Kansas; grandchildren Ben (Jennifer) Flora of Georgetown, Texas, Ashley (Trevor) Mader of Gardner, Kansas, and Allie Heier of Quinter; great-grandchildren Avery Flora, Harper Heier, Weston Mader, Grace Flora, and Landon Mader; brothers Delbert (Mary) Stefan of Cimmaron, Kansas, Darrell Stefan of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Duane (Linda) Stefan of Hays, Kansas; sisters Delinda (Dale) Collmann of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Donna Stefan of WaKeeney.

Those preceding Dorothy in death include both parents; her beloved husband; and siblings Donald Stefan, Diane Coffman, Darlene Tidball, Delores Herskowitz, and Dorene Miller.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Following visitation, a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM, with a rosary to follow, all to be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM, on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
