Opal was born in Ft. Lupton, Colorado on June 9, 1935 to Roy & Pearl
(Shephard) Cross, she had two brothers, Kenneth and Lydell Cross. She
passed away January 26, 2021 at Decatur Health.
Opal graduated from McCook High School in 1954. She was married to
Eldon Huntley on December 20, 1953. To this union, they had six
children: Alan, Kristi, Suzanne, Gaylen, Mark, Dan.
Opal was a homemaker all her life and worked at Decatur County
Hospital for several years as a dietary worker. She and Eldon lived most
of their lives on the farm by Traer and moved to Oberlin in 1987. Opal
was involved in her local church and was a volunteer for hospice for
many years. Family was very important to her.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth and
Lydell; husband, Eldon and daughter, Suzanne. She is survived by her
children: Alan and Connie Huntley of Minden, NE, Kristi and Jim Bond of
Kearney NE, Gaylen and Vicky Huntley of Oberlin, KS, Mark and Becky
Huntley of Cambridge, NE and Dan and Doreen Huntley of Phillipsburg, KS;
15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 4
nieces.
Opal will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2020
at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Interment will follow in the North Traer
Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturday
before the funeral.
