The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin resurfacing a portion of U.S. 24 in Stockton from Elm Street to Pleasant Street the week of Aug. 10.

In addition to resurfacing the roadway, crews will make curb-and-gutter improvements and install sidewalk ramps.

During construction, U.S. 24 will be reduced to one lane in each direction with an 11-foot width restriction. Traffic will be shifted to the outside lanes for the first phase of work, then to the inside lanes during the second phase. Sidewalks through the construction zone will be closed.

Work is expected to be completed in early December, conditions permitting. KDOT reminds motorists to follow posted signs and refrain from using hand-held mobile devices in all active work zones.

Morgan Brothers Construction, of La Crosse, is the primary contractor for the $2 million project. For more information, contact KDOT Area Construction Manager Dan Moore at 785-302-6205 or daniel.moore@ks.gov.
