LENEXA, Kan. – Hays High freshman Izabel Schmidt finished sixth in Saturday’s final of the 100 Yard Freestyle and seventh in the 50 Yard Freestyle at the KSHSAA 5-1A State Swimming and Diving Championships at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center.
After recording a preliminary time of 54.80, Schmidt broke her own school record in the finals with a time of 54.41. Bishop Carroll junior Karis Reynaga won the event with a time of 52.53.
Schmidt had a time of 25.11 in the 50 Yard Freestyle final. Andover senior Natalie Nugent won the race with a time of 24.18.
