Via Christi Village-Hays
What started as a fun event at Via Christi Village-Hays quickly became something much bigger, thanks to incredible community involvement. Staff, families, local businesses, supporters, and community members all came together recently to make our residents feel special, celebrated and loved.
Residents were able to dress up, dance, socialize, take photos and relive memories many had not experienced in decades.
One of the most meaningful parts of the event was our community-wide prom king and queen voting process. Community members actively participated by voting, sharing posts, commenting encouragement, and following along online as residents campaigned for the titles. The excitement and joy this created for our seniors was truly unforgettable.
The overwhelming support and interaction from the community made the residents feel connected, important, and celebrated far beyond the walls of the facility. For many residents, this was more than just a prom — it was a reminder that they are still seen, valued, and deeply loved by the community around them.
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming community support that helped make our prom such a special event for the residents of Via Christi Village-Hays.

Something Blue, a locally owned bridal shop, generously donated more than $30,000 worth of evening gowns, allowing our ladies to enjoy a true “prom dress shopping” experience.

For the fifth consecutive year, local DJs Hans and Jill provided the music and entertainment that brought the evening to life. We are especially proud that Jill also serves as our business office manager at VCV-Hays.
Andres Cisneros, one of our dietary aides, is a photographer and volunteered his time to photograph the event for the residents!!!
Women Who Lead volunteered their time to bartend during the event, adding another special touch to the evening.

In addition, VCV Hays staff members organized a bake sale that raised more than $1,000 to help fund prom decorations and create a memorable atmosphere for our residents.
Staff members also went above and beyond by creating heartfelt “promposals” to invite residents to the dance, making each resident feel special, celebrated and excited for the evening.
The event highlighted dignity, joy, quality of life, and the importance of creating meaningful moments for seniors in long-term care.
