Fort Hays State grade promoted by Kan. Highway Patrol

The Kansas Highway Patrol has announced the promotion of an area trooper.

Master Trooper Jonathan Eilert has been promoted to lieutenant and will serve Troop C in north-central Kansas. Troop C is headquartered in Salina.

Eilert attended the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy and graduated with Class No. 48 in 2008. His first duty station was Riley County in Troop C. He transferred to Jewell County in January 2014 and then transferred to Mitchell County in December 2014, where he has served until his promotion to lieutenant. In 2013, Eilert was promoted to Master Trooper.

Prior to joining the Kansas Highway Patrol, Eilert served as a Master-at-Arms with the United States Navy for five years.

A native of Beloit, Eilert graduated from St. John's Catholic High School. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in criminal justice.
