Gerald Karlin, age 77, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Hays. He was born February 2,1944 in Hays to Celestine and Josephine (Staab) Karlin. On May 8, 1965, he married Cynthia Ann (Kisner) at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2020.
Gerald was a retired Home Fire Protection Service Salesman. He was a member of the High Plains Baptist Church in Hays. He enjoyed playing cards and watching KU Basketball games. Gerald was a kind, caring and giving person whose family was very important to him.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Karlin and wife Marti of Olathe, KS; a daughter, Kelly Wasinger of Olathe, KS; three sisters, Wanda Shulte of Hays, Patty Kreutzer of Hays and Gerri Weber of Ellis; grandchildren, Kayla and Macy Karlin, Kaden and Kaylee Wasinger, Justin, Kelsey and Kyler Niernberger; two great grandchildren, Kinley and Jace Niernberger and a son-in-law, Darren Niernberger of Hays.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Kim Niernberger; two brothers, Omar and Alfred Karlin; and two sisters, Millie Pfannenstiel and Freda Hammerschmidt.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 17, 2022, at the High Plains Baptist Church, 2700 Canterbury, Hays, KS. Private family Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Visitation will be Monday 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
