Lucille Quinby

Lucille Quinby, age 75, of Ellis, Kansas, died Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.  She was born March 11, 1945, in Ellis, Kansas, to Celestine J. and Jeanne M. (Ingram) Weaver.

 She was a cook at the family business, the Skelly Restaurant in Ellis.  She also cooked at the Alloway’s Restaurant and retired in 2009.   She grew up in Ellis and was a graduate of Ellis High School.  She attended the Ellis Baptist Church, she enjoyed Elvis music, game shows, and her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Matthew Quinby and his wife, Tamara, Hays, KS; one daughter, Sarita Smith, Ellis, KS; two sisters, Elizabeth Pinney, Hays, KS; Marge Weber, Boone, IA; two sisters-in-law, Kay Weaver, Hays, KS; Roxanna Weaver, Sheridan WY; and eight grandchildren, Cassandra Quinby, Blade Quinby, Mataya Quinby, Haven Quinby, Shaylee Smith, Kalen Smith, Korvin Smith and Shyla Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Weaver, Leroy Weaver; one sister, Evelyn Wickham; one infant brother, Paul Weaver; one infant sister, Agatha Weaver.

Graveside services will be at noon Saturday, October 24, 2020, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ellis, Kansas.  

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association in care of the mortuary.
