JOPLIN, Mo. - The Fort Hays State men's cross country team finished 12th out of 29 schools at the 2023 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships Saturday morning (Nov. 4) at Missouri Southern's Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. The Tigers accumulated 350 team points, seventh-best amongst MIAA programs.
Grant Bradley was the top Tiger finisher, placing 32nd in the 10-kilometer race with a time of 31:43.3. Jaret Pfizenmaier traversed the course in 32:07.0, good for 49th, while Corbin Ricke finished 76th with a time of 32:44.2. Kaiden Esfeld was close behind in 78th after crossing the line in 32:45.3, while Noah Morenz rounded out the Tiger team scoring in 115th with a time of 33:34.7.
East Central cruised to the team title, winning by 72 points over second place after placing six runners inside the top 21, including individual champion Peter Kipkemboi with a time of 29:46.9.The Tigers will find out Monday if any individuals are selected at-large to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held on November 18 back at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo.
