HAYS – Brady Evans hit a two-run homer and the Hays Larks completed a three-game sweep of the Western Nebraska Pioneers with a 4-3 victory Sunday night at Larks Park.

Evans two-out blast to left in the sixth inning scored Payton Ebbing who walked. It came after the Pioneers (24-12) scored twice on an Isaiah Gibbs two-run homer off Caden Hare in the top of the inning to take a one-run lead.

The Larks (31-6) grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first on a Garrett Gruell single which scored Damian Ruiz. After the Pioneers tied the game with a run in the second, the Larks retook the lead in the fifth when Trent Baker scored on a wild pitch.

Caden Hare (2-0) was one of four relief pitchers and allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and strikeout and got the win. Michael Cruz pitched two scoreless innings for his first save. Dayne Pengelly and Kaleb Meredith also had a scoreless inning of relief.
