Arlinda Worthen

Arlinda Worthen, age 70, left this earthly life to be with her Savior on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia.  She was born on Jan. 7, 1952, in Great Bend, KS to Albert M. & Arlene E. (Erb) Klein.

She graduated from Hoisington High School in 1970 and graduated as one of the first nursing classes from Barton County Junior College.  She worked as a labor and delivery nurse for several years, delivering several babies on her own when the doctor couldn’t make it in time.  She later worked as a clinic nurse from Aug. 1, 1988, until her retirement on Aug. 1, 2014.  She was also known for teaching Lamaze classes in the varying different communities she lived.

She married Gregory Worthen on May 23, 1971, in Hoisington, KS.  Their married life took them from LaCrosse, KS to Salina, KS; Hays, KS; Sydney, NE; Dodge City, KS; Clay Center, KS and then Concordia, KS in September of 1985.

She was a faithful member of The Baptist Church, Concordia and enjoyed serving in several capacities within the church.  She belonged to the Christian Women’s Fellowship and a former EHU member. 

Arlinda most enjoyed her role as a wife, mother and grandmother.  This gave her great joy and happiness throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Greg, Concordia; son, Dr. Christopher Worthen (Kendra), Clay Center; daughter, Jennifer Keller (John), Manhattan; grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, Bryce & Ben Keller; sisters, Kathy Wood (Rick), Guam & Cindy Strickland (Clif), Hoisington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at The Baptist Church, Concordia with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Visitation will be Monday, February 14, 2022, from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
