Florence M. Headley, 88, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, at her home in Hanston.
She was born August 31, 1932, at Bird City, Kansas the daughter of George Henry and Mayme Gertrude (Amack) Theye. A Hanston resident for over 25 years, formerly of Dodge City and Colby, she was a homemaker and also worked in the laundry department in nursing homes. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches.
On August 30, 1952, she married John L. Headley at McDonald, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2010.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Leroy Headley, Hanston, Kansas, and Roger Headley, Bentonville, Arkansas; 4 daughters, Helen Hoover and husband Ronnie, La Crosse, Kansas, Karen Keazer, Marshall, Minnesota, Joyce Towey, Colby, Kansas and Sharon McCormick and husband Marvin, Mankato, Kansas; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren and her dog, Little Bit.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandsons, 5 brothers, Louis, Ralph, Calvin, Walter, and George Theye, 6 sisters, Viola Pyle, Bertha Culipher, Gertrude Zamey, Geraldine Espinoza, Marie Hicks, and Louise Johnson.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Beulah Cemetery, Colby, Kansas with Pastor Ben Meyer officiating. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
The family suggests memorials to Florence Headley Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
