Hays received 1.2 inches of snow amounting to .26 inches of moisture in an overnight storm that dropped snow, snow pellets, sleet and freezing rain on the city.
Tuesday's forecast includes rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 4 p.m., then a slight chance of rain between 4 and 5 p.m. The National Weather Service forecasts a high near 39.
East southeast wind 9 to 14 mph becoming west in the afternoon is predicted. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no ice accumulation is expected.
Total daytime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
Clouds are forecast to decrease overnight with sunny to mostly sunny skies Wednesday and Thursday. High Wednesday is forecast for 36 and Thursday 40.
There is a 20 percent chance of snow again on Thursday night after midnight.
Hays has received 22.14 inches of moisture this year compared to an annual average of 22.95 inches. Hays has received 2.2 inches of snow this month and 3.8 inches on the season.
