HAYS - Hays High made the most of their home course advantage by winning the 5A regional hosted at Smoky Hill Country Club on Monday.
The Indians shot a 313, nine shots better than both Eisenhower and DeSoto, to claim the regional championship.
Four golfers for Hays placed in the top ten. The field was led by Hays senior Caleb Thompson who fired a one-under 70 to win the individual championship.
Miles Weimer tied for second after shooting a 77. Dalton Schmidtberger and Trey Oakley both carded an 83 for a three-way tie at tenth.
Braiden Bickle tied for thirteenth one shot back at 84. Mason Simmons shot a 90 and finished in 25th.
The two-day 5A state tournament will be held in Wichita at Tallgrass Golf Club on May 26th and 27th.
