LINDSBORG - Be a part of history and join the Bethany Oratorio Society.

This year will mark the 142nd performance of Handel's Messiah by the Bethany Oratorio Society, the longest-running annual presentation in the United States.

Led by Mark Lucas, the society's first Messiah rehearsal is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 29. Rehearsal will be in Presser Hall with a full orchestra in attendance. 

The first rehearsal for The Passion According to St. Matthew is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in Presser Hall. This also will be led by Lucas.

Presser Hall is located on the campus of Bethany College, 335 E. Swensson Street.

Tickets for this year's performances during the Messiah Festival of the Arts are available online beginning Thursday.

The Messiah is performed on Easter Sunday, April 9, and Bach's The Passion According to St. Matthew is performed on Good Friday, April 7. More information is available at the website for the Messiah Festival of the Arts.
