KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State track and field senior Jacob Clark has earned his second MIAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor of the season, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Clark picked up the honor after placing first at the Washburn Rust Buster last Friday (Jan. 17) in Topeka, Kan. with a top clearance of 16-6.75 (5.05m). His top mark of the day was seven inches higher than his nearest competition.
That performance would be the best mark in the MIAA this season and would rank seventh across all Division II, however his top clearance of the season of 17-2.75 (5.25) is tied for first in the country.
The Nottingham, England native is undefeated in competition this season, placing first at all three meets so far in 2024-25.Clark is the first Tiger to earn multiple MIAA Athlete of the Week honors in a single season since fellow pole vaulter Ryan Stanley did so in consecutive weeks during the 2021-22 indoor season.
Clark and the rest of the Tigers will return to action next Friday (Jan. 24) when they head to Pittsburg, Kan. for the Rumble in the Jungle Invitational.
