Allan Chase Smith

Allan Chase Smith, 74, passed away May 16, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital- Wichita, KS.

He was born July 31, 1946, in Phillipsburg, KS. the son of Virgil T. Smith and Twila Luster Smith; and step son of Lucille “Skippy” (Spacil) Smith.  A Larned area resident since 1973, moving from Manhattan, KS, he was a Corrections Counselor at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility.

Allan attended the Larned United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Santa Fe Trail Auto Club, and a past member of the Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club, Larned Area Chamber of Commerce board and USD #495 School Board, serving as President for both the chamber and school board.  He was a Kansas State NSRA Safety Rep and member; and a Hunter Safety and Tractor Safety course instructor. He enjoyed Running, Bicycling, Karate, Motorcycles, Skiing, Bowling, Hot Rods and Card club.

On December 12, 1982, he married Patricia Ann (Yeager) Burris in Larned. She survives.

Other survivors Include: one daughter, Kristin (Joel) Keith, Larned; three sons, Joshua Smith, Great Bend, Chris (Heather) Burris, Larned, Jeff (Tiffany) Burris, Larned; eleven grandchildren, Joelle Keith, Brady (Lindsey) Keith, Kolby (Dava) Keith, Jameson Smith, Gillian Smith, Bailey (Chase) Coffman, Cade Burris, Beau Burris, Brooke Burris, Reaghan Burris, Mason Burris; two great grandchildren, Ridge Prescott and Chandler Burris and step-mother Lucille Smith, Ellinwood.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Decker.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Tricia North Presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery with military graveside rites following the service.
