Lawrence Wayne Butler, was a very proud son of Lawrence and Doris (Motsinger) Butler/Wenger, and was blessed for having them as parents.  He was born March 20, 1958 in Princeton, Missouri.  He passed away on September 9, 2021 at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, Colorado at the age of 63.  He also loved being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Lawrence, or Wayne as most of his family and friends knew him, was born in Princeton, Missouri, and at a young age, he and his family moved and settled in Kansas.  He attended Goodland and Ellsworth Schools.  On September 30, 1977, he was united in marriage to Teresa Lee Brown, the love of his life in Ellsworth, Kansas.  To this union, Wayne and Teresa were blessed with two boys, Kevin and Kurtis, and he was always proud of them.

Wayne love to farm and ranch and he worked in the oil fields.  He volunteered for the United States Army and loved serving his country.  Following his time in the Army, he moved his family to Colorado where he worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons until his retirement.  He loved to spend time with his family and friends.  He loved hunting, fishing and any reason to get out into God’s great outdoors, this was truly his playground.  He loved his mules dearly and will miss the many miles traveled with his family and friends while trail riding, and yes of course, the great hunting stories.

Wayne was a busy man volunteering as a wrestling coach, and firefighter in Holyrood, Kansas.  Then again in Fountain, Colorado, volunteering his time as a State Certified Firefighter II, EMT and Advance Cardiac Life Support.  He loved and felt really good about helping others in need.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, three brothers; Orval, Gary Dale and Fred, and two sisters; Patty Graff and Carol Hernandez.

Butler, two granddaughters Danielle and Yadisernia and Ciara Butler; one brother Dee Wenger of Lincoln, Kansas, three sisters; Judy Herwig (Jim) of Kingsville, Texas, Kay Blackmore of Pueblo, Colorado and Dalinda Hernandez (Mike) of Ulysses, Kansas.
