HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs closed out their regular season with a pair of one-run wins over Russell/Victoria Thursday. The Monarchs rally with four runs in the bottom of the eighth after the Broncos scored three in the top of the inning and won the opener 4-3. They take the second game 2-1 and wrap up the regular season at 10-10.

Monarchs and Broncos will play each other Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the TMP Field
in their 3A regional opener.
The
Monarchs overcame six errors in the opener. Griffin Schumacher drove in the
game-winning run with a one-out infield single following four straight walks. TMP
also took advantage of a hit batter and error in the inning.
Chet Irving had three of TMP’s 12 singles. Nicholas Herman picked allowed one earned run in three innings of relief and picked up the win.
The Monarchs scored a run in the second then added the go-ahead run in the third in game two. Griffin Schumacher singled home Caden Morgan with the first run. Mark Rack singled to left scoring Jace Wentling with the go-ahead run.
Morgan gave up on unearned runs on two hits over 5 2/3 innings and picked up the win. Nick Helget threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and got the save.
