Plainville traffic stop leads to arrest on drug allegations; federal warrant

The Plainville Police Department reported the arrest of an individual wanted on a federal warrant following a traffic stop in which a large amount of drugs were located.

The arrest was announced via social media Wednesday morning.

At around 10:30 p.m. May 6, Officer Cordell Stover conducted a traffic stop on North Washington Street, the announcement said.

During the stop, K-9 Handler Officer Lee Vogal and K-9 Bach were called to assist and a probable cause search was conducted.

"Marijuana, THC wax and drug paraphernalia were located, along with over $5,500 in cash," the department said.

It was also discovered that the driver had a federal warrant out of the state of Washington.

William Dean Thompson, 69, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession with the intent to distribute and related drug offenses.

 Thompson is currently being held at the Rooks County Jail.

The department also reminded the public, suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
