WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Fort Hays State women's soccer team came alive offensively in the second half to notch their second win of the season, topping Southwestern Oklahoma State 2-0 on Thursday evening. The win improved the Tigers to 2-1-2 overall, while the Bulldogs dropped to 1-3-1 on the year.

The first period of the match was filled with 13 total shots taken between the teams, but the goalkeepers for each team had answers for each shot on goal. Mackenzie Caldwell had five saves just in the first 45 minutes of action. SWOSU outshot FHSU 8-5, with the Bulldogs leading 4-1 in corner kick opportunities.

The Tigers broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when freshman Taylor Hill netted her first career goal, assisted on a long pass over the defense by Emily Hutchings. The Tigers extended their lead shortly after when a booming punt from Caldwell found Laila Cook, who buried a shot just outside the box in the 74th minute to make it 2-0. From that point on the Tiger defense remained flawless to secure their second shutout of the season.

Fort Hays State rattled off 12 shots, including six on goal. Caldwell racked up nine saves as the Bulldogs outshot the Tigers by two overall.
