Daniel Pfannenstiel

Daniel Pfannenstiel, 62, Hays, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home.

He was born January 18, 1960, in Great Bend, the son of Nicholas F. “Nick” and Blanche (Pfannenstiel) Pfannenstiel.  He was a graduate of Thomas More Prep High School in the class of 1978.  In November of 1980, he was united in marriage to Mary Feldt in Hays.  They later divorced.  Daniel worked as a custodian and at various restaurants throughout Hays.  As an avid sports fan, Daniel enjoyed watching his grandson’s ball games, attending Hays Larks, Fort Hays State University, and TMP-M High School games, and was a KU Jayhawks and KC Chiefs fan.

Survivors include his two sons: Adam Pfannenstiel and wife Sarah of Eagle, CO and Tyler Pfannenstiel and wife Megan of Hays, a daughter: Julie Quakenbush and husband Daniel of Gorham, a sister: Marlene Arnhold and husband Rick of Hays, five grandchildren: Elizabeth, David, and Catherine Quakenbush, Nicholas and Nolan Pfannenstiel, and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers: Thomas and Nicholas, Jr. Pfannenstiel and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Fr. Earl Befort officiating.  Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until service time.
