Stephen Joseph Pfeifer 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior Nov. 27, 2024, in Cunningham, Kansas  surrounded by his family.

He was born September 7, 1954, in Hays, Kansas to Verlin J. and Virginia L. (Ross) Pfeifer. Stephen worked for the Kansas Corporation Commission in the oil fields for 37 years before retiring. Stephen was a very loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and great uncle.

He loved hunting and fishing and his dog Nellie. He loved music and playing the guitar. He loved fishing with his grandsons and watching them motocross. He was an avid horseman in his younger days, and he loved cheering on his granddaughters at their rodeo events. He also treasured time spent with his extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia L. Pfeifer.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gloria “Jeanie” Pfeifer, Pratt, KS; father, Verlin J. Pfeifer, Hill City, KS; children. Stephanie (Chad) Westhoff, Pratt, Jill Pfeifer, Wichita, and Elizabeth (Shaine) Chadd, Macksville; siblings: Deb (Don) Keller, Hutchinson, Shelly Crippen, Lenexa, and Renee (Mack) Aspinall, Towanda; grandchildren: Ross (Alexa) Westhoff, Rion Westhoff, Logan (Hannah) Chadd, Daylen Chadd, Ava Chadd and Grace Chadd; great grandchildren: Hadley Westhoff and Brooks Westhoff.

Memorial Mass was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 322 N. Oak St, Pratt, Thursday, December 12, 2024.

The rosary was held prior to the mass. Memorials can be made in Stephen’s name to Interim Hospice of Pratt, 318 S. Main St, Pratt, KS 67124 or Hilltop Manor, 403 S. Valley St, Cunningham, KS 67035. Graveside

Commital will be held Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Hill City, Kansas.
