Ellis County fire officials extinguished a fire in a dust collector at Hess Services north of Hays early Thursday evening.
According to Fire Chief Darin Myers, the fire initially was reported just after 6 p.m. as a structure fire was but was in a dust collector located about 15 feet from the building.
Myers said when fire crews arrived on scene, they dismantled the dust collector and removed the filters to make sure the fire was extinguished.
The buildings garage doors were opened to ventilate the structure and to confirm the fire had not entered the building.
