🏃‍♂️ HHS opens season at Great Bend Invitational

BARTON COUNTY – The Hays High boys and girls cross country teams opened their 2024 seasons Thursday morning at the Great Bend Invitational at the Lake Barton Golf Course. The boys finished in 13th place. No girls team scores were posted. Garden City won the boys race with 53 points, 23 better than second place Holcomb.

Taevian Maupin finished in 24th place to lead the HHS boys. Maupin had a time of 17:22.52. Logan Leiker was the next closest HHS runner, finishing 82nd.

Ava Biggs led the Indian girls with a time of 24:10.47 and placed 80th.

Southeast of Saline’s Brayden Walker won the boys race with a time of 16:08.58. Salina Central’s Katelyne Rupe won the girls’ race with a time of 17:14.86.
