Donald Marvane 'Don' Moore Sr.

Donald Marvane “Don” Moore, Sr., 92, Hays, died Friday, October 30, 2020, at Hays Good Samaritan Society.

He was born March 6, 1928, in Nicodemus, the son of Nathaniel Moore, Sr. and Sarah (Griffee) Moore.  He attended Nicodemus schools.  Don served in the United States Army in the Korean War and was a member of the Nicodemus V.F.W.  He was a road construction worker, heavy equipment operator, and farmer.  On November 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to Pearlena Oetna Napue in Nicodemus, and they were married 64 years before she preceded him in death on August 20, 2017.  He loved hunting, fishing, and visiting with people.

Survivors include two sons: Donald Moore, Jr. of Hays and Daniel Moore of Hill City, one daughter: Twillia Berry of Topeka, two sisters: Florence Howard of Oakley and Bertha Carter of Nicodemus, five grandchildren: Denise Moore-Martinez of Denver, Michaela Moore of Overland Park, Danica Moore of Lawrence, Tyrel Wilson of Springfield, MO, and Sarah Moore-Jolly of Tennessee, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pearlena, one son: Dennis Moore, two brothers: Nathaniel, Jr. and Wilford, and one sister: Dorothy Moultry.
