🏀 FHSU's Wagner named to D2CCA All-Central Region first team

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Katie Wagner of Fort Hays State was named to the D2CCA All-Central Region First Team for the 2023-24 season, released on Thursday (March 14). Wagner adds yet another honor to her collection for the season after earning MIAA Player of the Year, All-MIAA First Team, MIAA All-Defensive Team, and MIAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.

Wagner enters the NCAA Tournament averaging 17.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season. She has 13 double-doubles this season in points and rebounds and 35 in her career. She has scored at least 20 points in a game 11 times this season and at least 30 points twice with a season high of 32. She reached double figures in rebounds 13 times this season with 17 as her season high.

Wagner joins a pair of players from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and a pair from the Great American Conference on the first team. NSIC first team selections include Lexie Schneider from the University of Mary and Joey Batt from Minnesota State University. GAC first team selections include Faith Simpson from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Hannah Giddey from Southern Nazarene University. A total of 10 players are selected to the D2CCA All-Central Region Team with five first-team selections and five second-team selections.
