Ellis Co. in moderate drought; much-needed moisture on the way

This week's Kansas drought monitor shows conditions persisting and expanding farther east, with most of northwest Kansas in extreme or severe drought.

Nearly all of Ellis County (3 down, 5 right from upper left county on map) is in a moderate drought. The southern tier is rated abnormally dry by the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has included Ellis County in a Flood Watch from 6 a.m. Friday through Monday with a forecast of  1 to 4 inches of rain and/or snow through Monday.
