Gladys Marie Moore

Gladys Marie Moore, 95, Hays, died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born January 25, 1925 in Munjor, the daughter of Henry A.  and Clara (Pfannenstiel) Meier.  On August 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Millard Moore at St. Joseph Church, and they celebrated 74 years of marriage.  Her memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Altar Society, the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Good Hope 4-H Club.  Gladys was a wonderful homemaker and farmwife who did canning, made homemade candy, baked bread, and enjoyed baking.  She made everything a celebration, was hardworking, a good listener, had a fun sense of humor, and enjoyed traveling.  She was a talented seamstress, embroidered, and most of all, loved her life, husband, and family.

Survivors include her husband Millard, of the home in Hays, two sons; Orville Moore and wife Janel and Alan Moore and wife Lori, all of Hays, four daughters; Gwen Staab and husband Norman of Overland Park, Jeanette Weigel and husband Bob of WaKeeney, Shirley Bollig of Hays, and Joyce Moore and partner Jill Collins of Overland Park, a brother; Ernie Meier of Hays, four sisters; Louise Staab of Hays, Berdy Herrman of Great Bend, Rosie Schmidt of Hays, and Leota Legleiter of Great Bend, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Ralph, Walter, Robert, and her twin Milton Meier, and a sister Justina “Tina” Ross.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, October 5, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Joshua Werth officiating.  Burial will follow in Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Sunday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to TMP-Marian High School or to Holy Family Elementary School.  Condolences and memories of Gladys may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
