TOPEKA - The Kansas State High School Activities Association has released brackets for next week's state baseball tournaments.
Hays High has drawn the No. 5 seed in Class 5A and will open with Topeka-Seaman in the 1:15 p.m. game Thursday at Eck Stadium in Wichita.
Class 5A State Tournament Bracket
The Indians enter the tournament with a 17-3 overall record. and have won seven straight and 12 of their last 13 games. They defeated Andover 5-4 and Valley Center 4-0 to win their own regional earlier this week.
The defending state champion Vikings are 19-3 overall and enter the state tournament with a 10-game win streak. Seaman was the two-seed in 5A East and defeated KC Washington 15-0 and Spring Hill 7-1 to win their own regional.
Andover Central (21-1) is the No. 1 seed and plays St. James Academy (9-13) in Thursday’s first game at 11 a.m. The 3:30 p.m. game features No. 2 seed Bishop Carroll (21-1) vs. Maize South (16-6) followed by No. 2 seed Blue Valley Southwest (19-3) vs. No. 6 seed De Soto (17-5).
