David Zook, 80 passed away peacefully on December 12, 2022, at his home in Zook, KS.
He was born May 13, 1942, in Great Bend, KS the son of Daniel W. and Joyce S. Zook.
A lifetime Zook resident and a 1960 graduate of Zook High School, David was a farmer, rancher and horse trader. Alongside his wife, Judy, they owned and operated the Double “D” Western Store in Larned, KS for 33 years. He was an active member of the Larned United Methodist Church. For many years, David was leader and supporter of the Zook Zippers 4-H Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed providing horse and buggy rides for the community, spending time doing leather work and getting together with the “In Table” social group from the Methodist Church. His greatest joy was his family, especially his granddaughters.
On May 13th, 1972, he married Judith A. Cutler at the Southwestern College Chapel, Winfield Kansas. She passed away June 19, 2013.
Survivors include: a son Daniel and husband Michael Zook, Austin, TX, a daughter Debbie and husband Eli Makings, Larned KS, 2 granddaughters Dava and husband Kolby Keith, Larned, KS and Alea and husband Brayden Lothman, Haviland, KS. Brothers Warren Zook, San Bernadino, CA and Owen and wife Diane Zook, Larned, KS. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rebecca Clowers.
Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. December 17, 2022, at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor Tricia North presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Zook, KS.
