With temperatures among average until recently, employees in the Hays Public Works Department were able to complete a number of concrete repairs and new sidewalk projects.
The mild weather also allowed for transplanting of cedar trees from King's Gate Addition that would have been destroyed as that new housing project enters its final phase.
More than 100 trees were donated and transplanted by parks department employees at the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex, according to Collin Bielser, assistant city manager.
Bielser has highlights of more projects and activities of city departments during a recent progress report to the city commission.
