Suspect stabbed in self-defense at Hays bar; suspect arrested

A disturbance outside a Hays bar led to a man being stabbed multiple times.

The investigation shows that man was stabbed in self-defense after he and another man attacked a 21-year-old man.

The man that was stabbed is expected to recover.

At 2:41 a.m. Sunday, the Hays Police Department received a report of a disturbance in the alley behind Chuck’s Bar, 507 W. Seventh St.

Officers responded to the scene and learned that a 31-year-old male had been stabbed multiple times during an altercation.

The initial investigation indicates that the man was stabbed in self-defense after he and a second man attacked a 21-year-old man.

During the attack, the 21-year-old victim pulled a knife and stabbed one of the attackers.

The victim was then able to get away from his attackers.

The second attacker also physically attacked another man that had attempted to intervene in the altercation.

The first attacker that was stabbed was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The second attacker was arrested for aggravated battery and is being held in the Ellis County Jail.
