Donna L. Schmidt, 70, La Crosse, Kansas, died Thursday, August 27, 2020, at her home.
Donna was born August 6, 1950, in La Crosse, Kansas, the daughter of LeRoy and Marie (Holopirek) Reifschneider. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. She was a 1968 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, and a 1973 graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. While attending K-State, Donna was a member of the K-State marching band. She was a teller at Farmers Bank and Trust, La Crosse, Kansas, for 30 years before her retirement in 2017.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Altar Society, and St. Michael’s Church Choir, all of La Crosse, Kansas.
On August 14, 1976, she married Richard L. “Rick” Schmidt at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Survivors include: her husband, Rick Schmidt, La Crosse, Kansas; one son, Scott Schmidt (Anne), Lenexa, Kansas; two daughters, Kelly Torrey (Jason), Salina, Kansas, and Kerri Tuzicka (Nate), La Crosse, Kansas; six grandchildren, Madeleine Schmidt, Leah Torrey, Tyson Torrey, Greyson Tuzicka, Braxton Tuzicka, and Hadley Tuzicka; and two brothers, Daryl “PeeWee” Reifschneider, La Crosse, Kansas, and Bruce Reifschneider (Bernie), La Crosse, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 30, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas. Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present time, the mass and interment will be private, immediate family only.
