A little more weekend rain falls in Hays, but still in exceptional drought

A quick moving thunderstorm Saturday night in Hays yielded 0.39 inch of rain, according to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.

So far for the year, Hays has received 7.15 inches of moisture, well behind the average of 11.27 inches by the end of June.

All of Ellis County is in the driest drought condition according to the  Kansas drought monitor released June 8 by the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Hays, and all of Ellis County remains in an exceptional drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor for Kansas.

The three-day weather forecast from the National Weather Service in Dodge City calls for a chance of thunderstorms through Wednesday.
