CLAREMORE, Okla. – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer played to a 1-1 draw at Rogers State on Saturday (Oct. 10). The No. 13 ranked Tigers were the first on the board in the first half, but the Hillcats (receiving votes in the latest national poll) found an equalizing goal in the second half. The Tigers remain in control of the GAC standings, now 8-2-3 overall, while Rogers State moved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-2 in the GAC.

Fort Hays State outshot Rogers State 7-3 in the first half, putting three attempts on goal, while holding Rogers State to one on target. JJ Espinosa finished a Francisco Degiorgi corner kick with a header in the 33rd minute to give FHSU the lead. It was Espinosa's second goal of the season and Degiorgi's team-leading fifth assist.

Rogers State's offensive intensity increased in the second half, outshooting the Tigers 10-2. Rogers State's goal came off a free kick opportunity near the box. A pair of touches left Sam Ryder in prime shooting position at close range to tie the match.

Payton Roehrich finished with six saves overall, including five after halftime. Tristan Miller notched four saves for the Hillcats.

The result allowed the Tigers to keep their 6-point cushion in the GAC standings over both Rogers State and Southern Nazarene. The Tigers will play two road matches next week at Northeastern State (Thur.) and Newman (Sat.).
