⚾Hays Eagles Senior Legion knock off Omaha Spikes

OMAHA – The Hays Eagles scored in all but one inning as they moved to 2-1 at the Battle of Omaha with an 8-3 win over the Omaha Spikes Tuesday.

Hays (8-4) scored single runs in each of the first inning to build a 3-0 lead.

They scored a run in the first on an error, a run in the second on a Remington Cox sacrifice fly and the third run came on a Brady Kreutzer single in the third.

Omaha got a run back in the top of the fifth before the Eagles scored four in the bottom of the inning.

Ben Krannawitter doubled to lead off the inning and Kreutzer drove him in with an RBI double to make it 4-1.

Kreutzer scored on an error and then two batters later Jack Fields plated a pair of runs with an two-run single to put Hays up 7-1.

Hays added an eighth run in the bottom of the six on a passed ball to make is 8-1.

The Spikes were able to get a pair of runs home in the top of the seventh but Hays picked up the 8-3 win.

Krannawitter, Kreutzer and Carson Spray all collected a pair of hits.

Kreutzer and Fields each drove in two runs for the Eagles.

Spray went the distance for the win. He allowed three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings.
