Larry R. Berg

Larry R. Berg was born November 18, 1942, on the family farm northwest of WaKeeney on the Saline River to Arthur S. and Augusta (Wahlborg) Berg.  He died at the age of 78 on December 18, 2020, at the Gove County Medical Center in Quinter, Kansas.

Larry was raised on the farm with four brothers and one sister.  He graduated with the Trego Community High School class of 1960 and attended Garden City Jr. College.  He married Judy Wertz on April 2, 1966, at the Church of the Brethren in Quinter.  They had two children, Shelly and Ross, and lived on the family farm over 54 years.  He farmed but loved working with cattle.

Larry was a family man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.  He was especially proud of his three grandchildren and great granddaughter.  He missed very few of their school activities.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife Judy of the home; daughter Shelly Huser of Victoria;  son Ross Berg of WaKeeney; three grandchildren, Kristin Werth and husband Brayden, Melany Huser and Greg Huser; great grandchildren, Emma Werth and another little Werth on the way.  Other survivors include his brother LeRoy and wife Ruth; sister Rita Rake and husband Tom; sisters-in-law Mary Berg, Judy Berg, Pat Berg; Kathy and Rod Bugbee, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Augusta Berg and three brothers, Wilbur, Glenn and Laverne Berg.

A family memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020, at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.  To prevent the spread of Covid-19, the wearing of face coverings is highly recommended.  

There will be a visitation Sunday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Also, to prevent the spread of Covid-19, masks are recommended and only a limited number of people will be allowed in the Funeral Home at one time.  Entry to the funeral home will be on a rotation.

Private family inurnment will take place at Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter.
