COLBY -- The Leadership/Presidential Scholars at Colby Community College are hosting a community blood drive from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in the Robert Burnett Student Union. Eligible donors aged 16 or older, in good health, and weighing at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate blood to help meet the urgent need.
According to the American Red Cross, only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly, and the nation faces the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years. Donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.
All donors on Nov. 15 can enter a drawing for a $25 Visa Gift Card or a Red Cross Cooler Bag. Additionally, each donor receives a $10 gift card via email and a chance to win a national $7,000 prize.
Appointments are encouraged and can be made by visiting www.redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767). Donors must present a photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card at check-in.
