The Kansas Department of Transportation has started field survey activities for proposed improvements on U.S. 281 in Russell and Osborne counties.

The survey is for proposed pavement reconstruction on approximately 5 miles of U.S. 281 starting at the east K-18 junction in Russell County and ending at County Road 412 in Osborne County. Crews will also be completing survey work on the Coon Creek bridge and drainage box structure, which are both located along the project corridor.

Activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor. KDOT expects work to be complete in early July.

A member of the survey crew will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property if access is needed. Kara LaRiviere, KDOT land survey manager, will oversee the survey activities.
