LILBURN, Ga. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team slid two spots in this week's WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, with the Tigers entering the final week of the regular season ranked eighth in the nation announced Tuesday (Feb. 24).
There was a major shakeup in the poll this week, with five of last week's top 10 and 12 of the previous top 25 losing over the weekend.
Texas Women's now ranks No. 1 in Division II after Minnesota State Mankato dropped its regular season finale. TWU is one of four teams to earn first-place vote, earning 15, while defending national champion Grand Valley State was atop one ballot. Mankato still led six ballots, with Colorado Mesa earning the other top vote with a division-best 28 wins this season.
The Tigers are the lone MIAA team in the top 25 this week, with Central Missouri and Pittsburg State both receiving votes. FHSU earned 390 points in the balloting process, down from 457 last week.
Fort Hays State is one of only four teams to rank inside the top 10 of all 15 polls released by the WBCA during the 2025-26 season. The Tigers have occupied seven of those top 10 spots at some point this season, ranking as high as No. 3 in weeks one and three and as low as No. 9 in the preseason.
This is the third time this season and eighth time overall Fort Hays State has been ranked eighth in the DII coaches poll. FHSU is 11-0 all-time when ranked eighth, including a 3-0 mark this season, giving the Tigers more wins without a loss when ranked eighth than any other spot in the poll.
FHSU has now been ranked 135 times in the program's DII era, including 94 appearances inside the top 10. FHSU is 209-51 all-time when ranked and 155-31 when ranked inside the top 10.
Now 24-3 overall, the ninth-most victories in team history, the Tigers will wrap up the regular season on Thursday (Feb. 26) when they host rival Nebraska-Kearney. First tip is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.
