HAYS – The TMP-Marian softball team opened their season with a pair of run-rule wins over Ellinwood Tuesday. The Monarchs won by scores of 20-0 and 20-4. Both games were called after three innings by run-rule.
Game 1: TMP-Marian 20, Ellinwood 0, 3 innings
The Monarchs scored 10 runs in each of the first two innings. Jaci VonLintel and Madison Augustine each had three of TMP’s 15 hits. VonLintel drove in six runs.
Halle Dreiling, Sophie Allen, Alexa Ryersee and Brooke Koeningsman had two hits each.
Dreiling, Augustine and Koeningsman all had triples, VonLintel added a double.
Augustine allowed only one hit over the three innings with six strikeouts and three walks for the win.
Game 2: TMP-Marian 20, Ellinwood 4, 3

Ellinwood scored two in the first then added another run in the second to go up
3-1 but the Monarchs answered with six in the second and 13 in the third.
Halle Dreiling hit an inside-the-park grand slam to push TMP’s lead to 12-4 in the third.
Dreiling finished with three hits and five RBIs. Madison Augustine also had three hits. Jessica Herrman drove in two runs.
Augustine picked up the win in the circle striking out six with five walks.
The Monarchs host Goodland Friday.
