Four students from Hays and one from Ellis were among those awarded a total of $1.5 million in scholarships from the Mike Rowe Works Foundation.
Aidan Debey, Christian Koch, Derek Eichman and Jackson Pfeifer, all of Hays, and Zeke Haag of Ellis were selected for the 2022 Work Ethic Scholarship.
Haag and Eichman are also Eagle Scouts.
Students were required to sign a SWEAT pledge, answer questions, provide references and transcripts and make a video for their applications.
