Loren Charles (L.C.) Kramer, 96, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021, at his home in Smith Center, KS.
L.C.
was born November 3, 1924, in Agenda, KS, the son of Ralph T. And Millie
(Byrd) Kramer. He attended country grade school and when the family
moved to Washington County he finished his schooling at Washington High
School.
In 1943, he enlisted in the Army and served with the 30th infantry division “Old
Hickory” in World War II. He received the Purple Heart while serving in
Normandy. At the end of the war he returned to Cloud County Kansas
where he met Velda Shields and they were united in marriage on August
30, 1946. To this union three daughters were born, Linda, Debra, and
Patricia.
In
February 1947, he began working for South Western Bell and remained with
them for 33 years. After his retirement he farmed until 2009 when his
health forced him to sell the family farm house and move into town.

is survived by his wife Velda of the home. Daughters; Linda (Dennis)
Pletcher of Portis, Debra (Curtis) Silsby of Smith Center and Patricia
Kramer of Smith Center, three grandchildren Dan (Julie) Pletcher, Trisha
(Steve) Wiehl and Ryan LaDow, nine great grandchildren Logan &
Briley Pletcher, Jade & Dane Coleclasure, Spencer, Kamryn, &
Cooper Wiehl, Sadie & Jade LaDow. Two sisters, twin sister Lorene
Carlson of St. George KS and Bettey O’Grady of Yankton, SD. Sister in
law Sandra Kramer of Washington, KS.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Marcele Harry and
Maxine Bower and two brothers George Henry and Donald Kramer and
son-in-law Larry LaDow.
Funeral
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at All
Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor
Laura Beth Fricker officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday,
April 7, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family present to greet
friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will
take place in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, KS. Memorials may be
given to Hospice Services of Smith County and can be sent in care of the
funeral chapel.
